How InverterWise handles information when you visit the site. We keep it short and honest.

Who we are

InverterWise is a website about backup power, reachable at inverterwise.online. This policy covers the pages on that domain. It explains what happens to information when you read the site or use the calculators. By using the site, you agree to what is described here.

Information we collect

We do not ask you to create an account or hand over personal details to use this site. The calculators run entirely in your browser. The appliance numbers you type are not sent to us and are not saved anywhere on our side. When you close the tab, they are gone.

Server logs

Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps basic server logs. These can include your general location, the browser and device you use, the pages you open, and the date and time you opened them. This data is not tied to your name. We use it to keep the site running and to spot problems.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Some cookies are needed for pages to work. Others help measure traffic or support advertising. You can delete cookies or block them in your browser settings. If you block all cookies, most of this site will still work fine.

When you first visit, a cookie banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies, including advertising and analytics cookies. Using Google Consent Mode, we do not enable those cookies until you accept, and your choice is remembered for future visits.

Analytics

We may use analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, to understand how many people visit and which pages they read. These tools may set their own cookies and collect data like the pages you view and roughly where you are. We look at this in totals, not as individuals. It tells us which guides are useful and which ones need work.

Advertising and Google AdSense

We may show ads on this site through third-party ad networks, including Google AdSense. A few things you should know about how that works:

  • Google is a third-party vendor that uses cookies to serve ads on this site.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners show ads to you based on your visits here and to other sites on the internet.
  • Other third-party vendors and ad networks may also use cookies to serve ads based on your past visits.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings page. You can also opt out of many third-party vendors at aboutads.info. If you choose not to opt out, you may still see ads, but they may be less relevant to you.

Do Not Track

Some browsers can send a Do Not Track signal. There is no common standard yet for how sites should respond to it. For now, we do not change our behaviour based on this signal.

Third-party links

Some pages link to other websites, such as product pages or manufacturer sites. Once you leave InverterWise, this policy no longer applies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. If you are unsure, read their own policies.

Children's privacy

This site is meant for a general adult audience. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Legal basis for processing

If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, the UK GDPR and EU GDPR require us to tell you the lawful basis we rely on for each kind of processing. Ours are:

  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)). Non-essential cookies, which covers advertising and analytics. Nothing in that category is set until you accept it in the cookie banner, and you can withdraw consent at any time by changing your choice or clearing cookies in your browser.
  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)). Basic server logs, which we rely on to keep the site available, diagnose faults, and protect against abuse. We have weighed this against your rights and keep the data minimal and short-lived.
  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)). Replying to an email you send us, so that we can answer the question you asked.

How long we keep data

We keep as little as possible, for as short a time as possible.

  • Server logs: retained by our hosting provider for a rolling period of up to 30 days, then overwritten.
  • Cookie consent record: your choice is stored in your own browser, typically for up to 12 months, so we do not ask on every visit.
  • Emails you send us: kept for up to 24 months so we can follow up on a correction or a question, then deleted.
  • Calculator inputs: never stored at all. They exist only in your browser and disappear when you close the tab.

International data transfers

Some of the providers we use operate outside the UK and the European Economic Area, so your data may be processed in another country, including the United States.

  • Google (AdSense and, where enabled, analytics) may process data outside the EEA. Google relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
  • CookieYes, our consent management provider, processes the consent record.
  • Hostinger, our hosting provider, processes server logs.

Where a transfer takes place, it is covered by an approved safeguard such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision. You can ask us for more detail on any specific transfer.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or the EEA, you have the following rights over your personal data. Similar rights apply in many other places, including under the CCPA in California.

  • Access (Art. 15): ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification (Art. 16): ask us to correct anything inaccurate.
  • Erasure (Art. 17): ask us to delete your data.
  • Restriction (Art. 18): ask us to limit how we use it.
  • Portability (Art. 20): ask for your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
  • Objection (Art. 21): object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests, including any profiling for advertising.
  • Withdraw consent (Art. 7(3)): withdraw cookie consent at any time, without affecting processing that already happened.
  • Complain: lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO); in the EEA it is your national supervisory authority.

To exercise any of these, email contact@inverterwise.online. We will respond within one month, as the GDPR requires. There is no charge, and we will not ask you to justify the request.

Your choices

You are also in control of cookies through your browser settings. You can block them, delete them, or set the browser to warn you before one is stored. Blocking all cookies will not stop the calculators or the guides from working.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Any updates will appear on this page.
